The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ Sunday - Year A (June 22, 2014)

A.     Introduction

a)      To the Holy Mass
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Good morning!
Welcome to Saint Dominic’s Parish Church for our Sunday Holy Mass celebration.  Today we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ to profess our faith in the real presence of the Lord in the figures of bread and wine, firmly believing what He taught and promised to those receiving and consuming His flesh and blood.  He said, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.”
We offer in this Holy Mass our deep thanksgiving and praise for Christ’s great love for us and our sincere commitment to living up to His Commandment of love.
Please all stand for the entrance hymn.
b)     To the Readings
-          First Reading Dt 8:2-3.14b-16a
The Great Prophet Moses in the Book of Deuteronomy reminds the People of Israel of the reality that material things cannot satisfy man’s needs simply because he was made of flesh and spirit.  The Word of the Living God is capable of bringing the fullness of life to those believing in Christ Who Himself is the Divine Word made flesh.

-          Second Reading 1 Cor 10:16-17
Saint Paul strongly teaches Christians that the bread and wine which they share in the Holy Mass are truly the Body and Blood of the Lord sacrificed for the forgiveness of our sins and for our life in communion with Christ.
