Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C (July 28, 2019)

A. Introduction

a) To the Holy Mass

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Good morning!

Welcome to Saint Dominic’s Parish Church for the celebration of the 17th Sunday in the Ordinary Time.

Together with the Apostles we ask the Lord to teach us how to pray. The Lord Jesus Christ did prepare for us the most beautiful prayer, “The Lord’s Prayer”, also known as “the Our Father”. We are allowed to call God “Our Father”. We express our love and concern for His Great Name, His Universal Kingdom, and His Holy Will. We ask Him for daily food, powerful protection from the Evil One. We thank Him for His pardon of our sins, and we promise Him our mutual forgiveness.

Let us all stand for the entrance song.

b) To the Readings

- First Reading: Gn 18:20-32

Sacred Scripture provides proofs to convince us of God’s immense mercy. The story of how God seemed to change His mind due to the patriarch Abraham’s persevering prayer simply sends us the message that Our God is merciful, slow to anger, but rich in pardoning sinners.

- Second Reading: Col 2:12-14

Evil consequences have caused us to die. But thanks to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ God not only removed our sinfulness, but above all He raised us to new life in Christ Jesus, His Beloved Son, Our Lord and Savior.

Psalm Ps 138:1-2, 2-3, 6-7, 7-8

R. Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me.
R. Lạy Chúa, ngày con kêu cứu, Chúa đã thương đáp lại.

I will give thanks to you, O LORD, with all my heart, for you have heard the words of my mouth; in the presence of the angels I will sing your praise; I will worship at your holy temple and give thanks to your name. R.
Lạy Chúa, con hết lòng cảm tạ, Ngài đã nghe lời miệng con xin. Giữa chư vị thiên thần, xin đàn ca kính Chúa, hướng về đền thánh, con phủ phục tôn thờ. R.

Because of your kindness and your truth; for you have made great above all things your name and your promise. When I called you answered me; you built up strength within me. R.

The LORD is exalted, yet the lowly he sees, and the proud he knows from afar. Though I walk amid distress, you preserve me; against the anger of my enemies you raise your hand. R.

Your right hand saves me. The LORD will complete what he has done for me; your kindness, O LORD, endures forever; forsake not the work of your hands. R.
Ngài lấy tay uy quyền giải thoát con. Việc Chúa làm cho con, Ngài sẽ hoàn tất; lạy Chúa, muôn ngàn đời Chúa vẫn trọn tình thương. Công trình do tay Ngài thực hiện, xin đừng bỏ dở dang. R.

A. Introduction

a) To the Holy Mass

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Good morning!

Welcome to Saint Dominic’s Parish Church for the Sunday Holy Mass celebration. The message of God’s Word for this Sixteenth Sunday in the Ordinary Time tells us how important it is to have our actions backed by our prayer. A life of actions means the service of God through what we do for the building of the Church which people can see. A life of prayer helps Christians to establish God’s Kingdom in the hearts of believers.

We pray hard in this Holy Mass for a good balance in our life as Christians between action and prayer; serving the Lord and listening to Him.

Kindly all stand for the entrance hymn.

Kẻ nào sống vẹn toàn, luôn làm điều ngay thẳng, bụng nghĩ sao nói vậy, miệng lưỡi chẳng vu oan. R.

Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C (July 14, 2019)

A. Introduction

a) To the Holy Mass

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Good morning!

Welcome to Saint Dominic’s Parish Church for the Sunday Holy Mass celebration. As we celebrate the Fifteenth Sunday in the Ordinary Time today, the message of God’s Word comes to us bringing the Good News of Divine Merciful Love and telling us how to put into practice the new commandment of love by Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Christian love asks each and one of us to quickly respond to the needs of the poor, the suffering and the oppressed as if they were our blood sisters and brothers, no matter who they are with regard to social, political and religious aspects.

We pray hard in this Holy Mass to the God of all blessings for a true, sincere and unconditional love of our neighbors, keeping in our mind what Christ our Lord will tell us at the Last Judgment, “Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me”. (Mt 25:40)

Please all stand for the entrance hymn.

b) To the Readings

- First Reading: Dt 30:10-14

The Great Prophet Moses tells the people of Israel to observe God’s Commandments with love and happiness for fulfilling the divine law is not as difficult as going up to the sky or crossing the sea. On the contrary, the observance of God’s law is feasible to all of us because it is inscribed in our heart.

- Second Reading: Col 1:15-20

God so loved us that he had decreed from eternity that salvation be brought about by Christ Jesus, His Only Son, our Lord and Savior. In Christ, all of us, sinners, have been reconciled to God, and are sent as peacemakers to people divided by forces of evil.

R. Hỡi những ai nghèo hèn, hãy kiếm tìm Thiên Chúa, là tâm hồn phấn khởi vui tươi.

I pray to you, O LORD, for the time of your favor, O God! In your great kindness answer me with your constant help. Answer me, O LORD, for bounteous is your kindness: in your great mercy turn toward me. R.
   (14) Lạy Chúa, phần con xin dâng Ngài lời nguyện, lạy Chúa Trời, đây giờ phút thi ân. Xin đáp lại, vì ơn cả nghĩa dày, vì Chúa vẫn trung thành ban ơn cứu độ. (17) Lạy Chúa, xin lấy lòng nhân hậu mà đáp lại lời con; xin mở lượng hải hà mà đoái thương nhìn đến. R.

I am afflicted and in pain; let your saving help, O God, protect me. I will praise the name of God in song, and I will glorify him with thanksgiving. Turn to the Lord in your need, and you will live. "See, you lowly ones, and be glad; you who seek God, may your hearts revive! For the LORD hears the poor, and his own who are in bonds he spurns not." R.

Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C (July 7, 2019)

A. Introduction

a) To the Holy Mass

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, Good Morning!

Welcome to Saint Dominic’s Parish Church for Sunday Holy Mass. We celebrate today the 14th Week in the Ordinary Time, Liturgical Year C.

This Sunday Gospel story tells us Our Lord’s instructions to the disciples being sent to preach the Good News of salvation. The common good of listeners must be the first priority of missionaries and preachers. Besides, church workers should not be too dependent on material means or worldly power so as to freely speak the saving truth. Finally, those who serve the Lord would not worry about what they will get back for having dedicated their lives in the Lord’s vineyard because their names are written in heaven.

Please all stand for the entrance hymn.

b) To the Readings

- First Reading: Is 66:10-14c

The New Testament Church takes for herself what was said about Jerusalem. The Lord always loves and cares for his Church by providing her with plenty of food and comfort so that His people will prosper in the face of nations.

- Second Reading: Gal 6:14-18

According to Saint Paul, the main reason for Christians to be proud is that they through the grace of the Lord have become a new creation and worthy of God’s peace and mercy.
