Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A (August 13, 2017)

A. Introduction

a) To the Holy Mass

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Good morning!
Welcome to Saint Dominic’s Parish Church for the Sunday Holy Mass celebration.  The Gospel message sent to each and one of us today is that we need the gift of faith in order not to fall victim of illusions and wrongdoing when faced with all forms of trials.
Faith in Christ Jesus Who is always present in our life both as individuals and communities can keep us safe and save us from danger.
We pray in this Holy Mass for unwavering trust in the Lord and Savior of the world so that we can survive this journey on earth and reach the Kingdom of heaven.
Please all stand for the entrance hymn.

b) To the Readings

First Reading: 1 Kgs 19:9a.11-13

Persecuted by the wicked King Ahab and his Queen Jezebel for killing their prophets of Baal, the Prophet Elijah ran for his life and climbed up the mountain Horeb to look for God’s protection.  There he met the Lord God in a peaceful environment.

Second Reading: Rm 9:1-5

Saint Paul shared with us how charity works in the life of Christians who are really and sincerely concerned of the salvation of their own people.  He would rather suffer from some kind of pain and loss for the sake of his countrymen.
