A. Introduction
a) To the Holy
Mass
Dear
Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Good
morning!
Welcome
to Saint Dominic’s Parish Church for the celebration of the 20th Sunday in the
Ordinary Time.
Sacred
Scripture teaches us that Jesus Christ, Our Lord, the Son of God, was sent as
the Light of the world into human society in order to show people the true way
leading to life eternal. Whoever
receives Him has life in abundance.
Whoever denies Him will perish.
Consequently,
the world since the first coming of Christ seems to be divided into two. Either side should be responsible for their
own free choice and decision in reaction to the truth of the Savior of the
world.
In
this Holy Mass we listen to Christ speaking to us on how to know the right way
that brings us life. We pray to God for
the grace of wisdom and courage to put into practice what we learn from this
Sunday’s message.
Kindly
all stand for the entrance hymn.
b) To the Readings
- First Reading (Jer
38:4-6.8-10)
People
say, “Truth hurts.” We like to know the
truth, we want to hear the truth, but we fear the truth, too. People try to hide the truth—sometimes in a
violent way—if they think the truth threatens their interest.
The
Prophet Jeremiah was punished by the corrupt and wicked people for telling the
truth about the latter’s wrongdoing.
- Second Reading (Heb
12:1-4)
Saint
Paul admonishes Christians in their suffering for faith in God to look up to
Christ, Who gave us a good example of perseverance in carrying out the Holy
Will of God the Father.
