XIX Sunday in Ordinary Time-Year C (August 11, 2013)

A. Introduction

a) To the Holy Mass

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Good morning!
Today we celebrate the 19th Sunday in the Ordinary Time, Year C.   We hear the Lord urge everyone of us to be awake and ready for the coming of his message of salvation.  This saving Good News is so important that we would sacrifice everything else just to obtain it.
Today we welcome our brothers who decide to join the Catholic Church through the Sacrament of Baptism.  In this Holy Mass we pray for them to be for ever happy and faithful to Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Please all stand for the entrance hymn.

b) To the Readings

- First Reading (Wis 18:6-9)
The Book of Wisdom reminds of how the people of Israel had, regardless of hardship and suffering in life, to put their faith in the promises of the Lord God.  For their faithfulness they were delivered from slavery of Egypt.

- Second Reading (Heb 11:1-2.8-12)
Saint Paul believes that faith is powerful enough to open the eyes of the faithful to see what they cannot see with human eyes, and to surely obtain what is still hoped for.  This is really a message of encouragement for those who trust in the promises of the Lord.
