Verse before the Gospel (Phil 2:8-9)
Christ became obedient to the point of death,
even death on a cross.
Because of this, God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name which is above every name.
Prayer of the Faithful
Priest Celebrant
Knowing that Jesus is our merciful and compassionate king,
we place our petitions before him.
Deacon or Lector
A For Church leaders, both lay and ordained,
that they continue to spread the good news of the crucified and risen Lord,
let us pray to the Lord:
B For those who lead the world’s nations,
particularly where there is unrest,
that they commit themselves anew to the cause of justice and peace,
let us pray to the Lord:
C For those who dedicate their lives to the welfare of others,
that they persevere in spite of discouragement or weariness,
let us pray to the Lord:
D For those who suffer persecution for the sake of justice,
that they bear suffering as Jesus did, and rejoice also
in his resurrection,
let us pray to the Lord:
E For all who gather at this table,
especially those preparing for the Easter sacraments,
that their trials be united to the passion and death of Jesus,
let us pray to the Lord:
Priest Celebrant
Loving God, you accepted the offering of your Son for our sins.
Now we place before you all these intentions and those in our hearts,
through the same Christ our Lord.
