First Reading (Isaiah 49:3, 5-6)
A reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah
The LORD said to me: You are my servant,
Israel, through whom I show my glory.
Now the LORD has spoken
who formed me as his servant from the womb,
that Jacob may be brought back to him
and Israel gathered to him;
and I am made glorious in the sight of the LORD,
and my God is now my strength!
It is too little, the LORD says, for you to be my servant,
to raise up the tribes of Jacob,
and restore the survivors of Israel;
I will make you a light to the nations,
that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.
The word of the Lord.
Bài Ðọc I: (Is 49:3. 5-6)
“Ta đặt ngươi như ánh sáng các dân tộc, để ngươi nên ơn cứu độ của Ta”.
Trích sách Tiên tri Isaia.
Chúa đã phán cùng tôi: “Hỡi Israel, ngươi là tôi tớ Ta, vì Ta được vinh danh nơi ngươi”.
Và bây giờ, Chúa phán, Người đã huấn luyện tôi khi tôi còn trong lòng mẹ, để tôi trở nên tôi tớ Người, để đem Giacóp về cho Người, và quy tụ Israel quanh Người. Tôi được ca tụng trước mắt Chúa và Thiên Chúa là sức mạnh của tôi. Xướng: Hy sinh và lễ vật thì Chúa chẳng ưng, nhưng Ngài đã mở rộng tai con. Chúa không đòi hỏi lễ toàn thiêu và lễ đền tội, bấy giờ con đã thưa: “Này con xin đến”.
“In the written scroll it is prescribed for me,
to do your will, O my God, is my delight,
and your law is within my heart!”

Second Reading (1 Corinthians 1:1-3)
A reading from the first Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians
Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God,
and Sosthenes our brother,
to the church of God that is in Corinth,
to you who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be holy,
with all those everywhere who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ.
The word of the Lord.
Bài Ðọc II: (1 Cr 1:1-3)
“Nguyện cho anh em được ân sủng và bình an của Thiên Chúa, Cha chúng ta”.
Khởi đầu thư thứ I của Thánh Phaolô Tông đồ gửi tín hữu Côrintô.
Phaolô, do thánh ý Chúa, được kêu gọi làm Tông đồ của Chúa Giêsu Kitô, và Sôtênê, anh em chúng tôi, kính chào Hội Thánh Chúa ở Côrintô, những người được thánh hoá trong Chúa Giêsu Kitô, được kêu gọi nên thánh, làm một với tất cả mọi người khắp nơi đang kêu cầu thánh danh Ðức Giêsu Kitô, Chúa chúng ta: Nguyện chúc cho anh em được ân sủng và bình an của Thiên Chúa Cha chúng ta, và của Chúa Giêsu Kitô.

The Word of God became flesh and dwelt among us.
To those who accepted him,
he gave power to become children of God.

Alleluia, alleluia! – Ngôi Lời đã trở nên người phàm và cư ngụ giữa chúng ta. Còn những ai đón nhận, tức là những ai tin vào danh Người, thì Người cho họ quyền trở nên con Thiên Chúa. – Alleluia.
Gospel (John 1:29-34)
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Saint John
John the Baptist saw Jesus coming toward him and said,
“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.
He is the one of whom I said,
‘A man is coming after me who ranks ahead of me
because he existed before me.’
I did not know him,
but the reason why I came baptizing with water
was that he might be made known to Israel.”
John testified further, saying,
“I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from heaven
and remain upon him.
I did not know him,
but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me,
‘On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain,
he is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
Now I have seen and testified that he is the Son of God.”

Phúc Âm: (Ga 1:29-34)
“Ðây Chiên Thiên Chúa, đây Ðấng xoá tội trần gian”.
Tin Mừng Chúa Giêsu Kitô theo Thánh Gioan.
Khi ấy, ông Gioan thấy Chúa Giêsu tiến về phía mình liền nói: “Ðây Chiên Thiên Chúa, đây Ðấng xoá tội trần gian. Này tôi đã nói về Ngài: Một người đến sau tôi, nhưng đã có trước tôi, vì Ngài cao trọng hơn tôi. Và tôi, tôi đã không biết Ngài, nhưng để Ngài được tỏ mình ra với Israel, nên tôi đã đến làm phép rửa trong nước”. Và Gioan đã làm chứng rằng: “Tôi đã thấy Thánh Thần như chim bồ câu từ trời đáp xuống và ngự trên Ngài. Về phần tôi, tôi đã không biết Ngài. Nhưng Ðấng sai tôi làm phép rửa trong nước phán bảo tôi: “Ngươi thấy Thánh Thần ngự xuống trên ai, thì đó chính là Ðấng làm phép rửa trong Chúa Thánh Thần”. Tôi đã thấy và tôi làm chứng: chính Ngài là Con Thiên Chúa”.
Ðó là lời Chúa.
