a) To The Holy Mass
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Welcome to Saint Dominic’s Parish Church for the celebration of the 30th Sunday in the Ordinary Time, Year C.
In the world people often look for fame and fortune. Sometimes, to achieve their ambitious goal, they would do even unlawful and immoral things.
The message of this Sunday’s Gospel warns Christians not to act the dishonest way the Pharisee did for self-justification. Declaring who really is worthy of divine mercy and forgiveness belongs not to humans but to the Lord God alone.
In this Holy Mass we all aware of our sinfulness approach the Almighty and All-Merciful Father with humble prayers and repentant hearts just to say, “Lord, have mercy on us!” This sincere and authentic supplication may deserve for us a priceless blessing, as stated in the conclusion of the story, “the tax collector went home justified.”
Please all stand for the entrance hymn.
b) To The Readings
- First Reading (Sir 35:12-14.16-18)
It is so comforting to put our trust and hope in God Who is the loving and caring Father of all. But God shows particular concern for the powerless and the voiceless in society. In God alone do the poor and the oppressed find justice, love and protection.
- Second Reading (2 Tim 4:6-8, 16-18)
Saint Paul urges Bishop Timothy, his disciple, to be confident in the Lord God’s great love and justice as the former has learned, through his own life filled with challenges and suffering, the truth that God always blesses the faithful with much noble rewards.
