Epiphany of the Lord Sunday - Year A (January 08, 2017)

A.    Introduction

a)    To the Holy Mass

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Good morning!
Welcome to Saint Dominic’s Parish Church for our Sunday Holy Mass celebration.
We joyfully and gratefully celebrate this Sunday the Epiphany of the Lord.
Epiphany coming from Greek means “apparition”.  We need, however, to clarify in depth the implications of the term so as to realize the importance of the feast in which we are participating.  The almighty Lord God Creator and Savior has not only appeared to us in a certain form, but He has come to us as a human person like us, to share with us joys and sorrows in this life, to tell us of God’s love, and finally to save us from sin and death.
We pray in this Holy Mass for the blessing of happiness because the Lord God has come to us and stayed with us always to the end of the times.

b)    To the Readings

-       First Reading: Is 60:1-6

The Prophet Isaiah announces to the world the good news of the glory of the Lord shining upon the Holy City of Jerusalem.  People from all corners of the earth will come with praises and offerings to worship God.

-       Second Reading: Eph 3:2-3a.5-6

Saint Paul believes that the coming of Christ in the world has fulfilled God’s promises of granting all peoples the grace of being members of His Holy Church.
